Reasons to Take a Mount Washington Cruise

Mount Washington CruiseOne of the best things about a visit to the New Hampshire Lakes Region is, of course, the lakes! There are a variety of ways to enjoy the water during your stay at the Inn On Golden Pond. One popular endeavor is a Mount Washington Cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee.

With the crystalline waters of lake Winnipesaukee beneath you and the scenic vistas of the White Mountains surrounding you, your day on a Mount Washington Cruise is sure to be memorable. Saturday nights, have a romantic dinner and dancing with live entertainment for the perfect date.  Other special cruises include a Fall Sunset & Foliage Dinner Cruise as the summer season turns into fall.  Or climb aboard mail boat Sophie C. for an inland cruise of the islands on the lake.

The Mount Washington Cruise fleet includes three boats.  The M/S Mount Washington is the fleet’s flagship and is a first class, 230-foot long with vessel 4 decks offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The Mount Washington can accommodate up to 1,250 passengers depending on seasonality and weather conditions. The second boat in the fleet is an old U.S. Mail Boat called the Sophie C. She is the “oldest floating post office in the United States” and continues to provide mail service on the lake , just as she has since 1892.  Sophie C. is 74 feet long with a capacity of 125 and has a small Gift Shop, restrooms and indoor and outdoor seating.  The final ship in the fleet is the 74-foot Doris E, which can handle up to 125 people.  Passengers on this Mount Washington Cruise boat can visit the smaller islands around Weirs Bay during a one hour tour.
