Plymouth, NH 250th Anniversary Celebration

The weekend of July 19th will be the grand celebration of Plymouth, NH’s 250th anniversary.  Plymouth borders Holderness and is about a 10 minute drive from the Inn On Golden Pond. Why not plan to visit  the area to enjoy all the festivities? And, of course, a night or two at our Squam Lake bed and breakfast would be the icing on the cake.

The celebration actually begins on Wednesday, but the major events will take place on Saturday and Sunday. There will be an outdoor pancake breakfast downtown Saturday morning followed by a parade at 10:00 am.  All afternoon there will be train rides, lots of food and continuous performances at the Rotary Amphitheater by the river. Saturday will be capped off with cultural performances at the Congregational Church.

On Sunday there will be historical walks around town, historic house tours, and in the evening the Pemi Choral Society will perform followed by the cutting of the 250th birthday cake. The grand finale will be fireworks at 9:00 pm.

It promises to be a fun weekend of pure Americana. You can get details on their Facebook page for the celebration.

Below are a couple of pictures from downtown Plymouth. One is a historic sketch of the downtown by the common. The second is a picture of the Boy Scout statue found on the common. The statue dates back to 1933 and is believed to be one of only two boy scout statues in the country.
