Hiking around Squam Lake and in the White Mountains

With summer rapidly approaching more guests at our Squam Lakes bed and breakfast will be turning their attention to hiking. Since we’re located in the foothills of the White Mountains many people realize that we’re very close to some of the best hiking in New Hampshire and arguably in all of New England. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just a beginner there are lots of opportunities close by to get out an enjoy the great outdoors. Of course, Mt. Washington is our best known peak particularly for its fickle weather, but the White Mountains are filled with smaller mountains that still present a challenge.

Here in Holderness you can find a real NH gem. The Squam Range consists of several peaks ranging from about 1,000 feet in elevation to close to 2,500 feet. The trails tend to be lightly traveled (you could hike all day and not see another person) and offer some wonderful views of Squam Lake and other lakes in the New Hampshire lakes region. So if you’d prefer to avoid the crowds the Squam Range is the place for you.

And what better way to end a day of hiking in New Hampshire than by staying at a luxury bed and breakfast like the Inn On Golden Pond? Not only will you get a great nights’ rest, but a delicious country breakfast will be waiting for you the next morning!

Rattlesnake Mountain in Holdernesss, NH is just 15 minutes from our Squam Lake bed and breakfast.
